Work From The Same Color Scheme
When you’re decorating your open concept home, one thing that can make everything easier for you is to work from a set color scheme throughout the entirety of the space. This way, whatever you choose to use in the space will adhere to that color scheme and will help the space feel more cohesive.
Ideally, you should try to choose one or two main colors that take up more real estate in your living space and then two or three complementary colors that you can use to help break up those main colors.
Make Sure You Have Natural Pathways
In many open concept homes, it can be hard to know how to set up the space so that there are defined walkways for you and others to move throughout the space. So when you’re deciding where to put your furniture, make sure you consider the flow of the traffic so that your space is usable to you.
As you consider the space, make sure you’re thinking about the natural pathways that you and others will want to walk when in the space. Trying too hard to push people to other pathways through bad placement of furniture can make your space harder to use for everyone.
